Romania’s Mission to Promote Relations with Japan

Romania’s foreign affairs representative is planning to foster economic relations with Japan by encouraging cultural, business, and educational exchanges between the two countries. Romanian translation services will be necessary for the implementation of his strategies. For example, Japanese companies looking to invest in areas such as agriculture, power energy, and tourism will need to translate their documents into Romanian to apply for permits to operate in Romania. Furthermore, exchange students would be asked to provide the Romanian translations of their academic documents to universities in Romania. Radu also emphasizes that studying Japanese is gaining popularity in Romania.

Since there are no universities in Japan that teach the Romanian language Serban’s dream is to promote the authorities to start teaching the language in Japanese schools. Radu Serban has been inspired to boost ties with Japan because he loves the Japanese literature, specifically haiku. He explains that he loves Japanese haiku because it works exactly the same way as it does in Romanian. Growing up he studied the translated version of Japanese haikus to learn the rules and understand their themes. Radu has always made every effort to learn and Japanese haiku. He was so inspired by his accumulated knowledge of the Japanese literature that last year he wrote a haiku book in Romanian. It is notable that Gheorghe Bagulescu, a former Romanian ambassador, was one of Serban’s role models. He established close relations with Japan several decades ago.

He even published a novel about Japan that was translated into English, Japanese, and French by Romanian translation services providers. For those who would like to learn more about a Romanian in the 1930’s who loved the Japanese culture and history we can translate Bagulescu’s book into any major language. At California Center for Translation & Interpretation we provide both Japanese and professional Romanian translation services. Our translators who specialize in literature and poetry are ready to assist anyone who is deeply passionate about reading through the translation of a Japanese or Romanian haiku.
