Romania’s foreign affairs representative is planning to foster economic relations with Japan by encouraging cultural, business, and educational exchanges between the two countries. Growing up he studied the translated version of Japanese haikus to learn the rules and understand their themes. Radu has always made every effort to learn and Japanese haiku. He was so inspired by his accumulated knowledge of the Japanese literature that last year he wrote a haiku book in Romanian. It is notable that Gheorghe Bagulescu, a former Romanian ambassador, was one of Serban’s role models. He established close relations with Japan several decades ago.
