Under the Chinese law patent extensions are not allowed. Twelve Chinese companies have formed an alliance to bring a lawsuit against Japan’s Hitachi Metals. The Chinese firms believe that Hitachi Metals owns patents that infringe on their intellectual property rights. Furthermore, they have extended the expiration of their patents to 2029. The Chinese rivals have revealed their plans to pursue legal action against the Japanese company in the United States and China. They must come to a foreign court prepared with the translation of the required documents.
